Atari 2600: Tempest (Prototype)
Review of Tempest from atariprotos.com: On the list of games that should never have been tried on the 2600, Tempest has to be near the top. Why Atari decided they could reproduce a 3D vector game on the 2600 is beyond me, but the results were disastrous. Thankfully Atari killed off this experiment gone wrong before it could hurt anybody. I've said it once and I'll say it again; If there's one thing the 2600 doesn't do it's diagonals...

Atari 2600: Phoenix
Click here to view the manual to this game. Phoenix is a shoot 'em up arcade game developed by Amstar Electronics (which was located in Phoenix, Arizona) in 1980, released by Centuri in the United States and by Taito in Japan. Bootleg versions of Phoenix were released by TPN and others. Atari also ported the game to the Atari 2600 console in 1982. Like many arcade games of that era, Phoenix is a top-down outer space-themed fixed shooter similar to Taito's Space Invaders...

Atari 2600: Custer's Revenge
Custer's Revenge is a controversial video game made for the Atari 2600 by Mystique, a company that produced a number of adult video game titles for the system. The player character is based on General George Armstrong Custer. The game was first released on October 13, 1982, and has received significant criticism because of its crude simulation of a rape of a Native American woman. In the game, the player controls the character of Custer, depicted as a man wearing nothing but a cavalry hat, boots...

Q*bert starts each game at the top of an isometric pyramid of cubes, and moves by jumping diagonally from cube to cube. Landing on a cube causes it to change color, and changing every cube to the target color allows the player to progress to the next stage...

Pac-Man (Prototype) - Atarisoft
Atarisoft was a brand name used by Atari to market video games they published for home systems made by their competitors. They published only 4 games for Colecovision. Galaxian and Jungle Hunt are hard to find, but Centipede and Defender are common. Unfortunately, Atarisoft never released Pac-Man on Colecovision. This port of Pac-Man was completed, and had many of the aspects of Namco's original Pac-Man...

Atari 2600: Demon Attack
Easily one of the most loved games on the 2600, Demon Attack is a shooter that really shows off the colorful graphics that were a staple of the Imagic library. At first glance one might mistake Demon Attack for Phoenix. This is due to the waves of bird-like aliens that swoop down at your lonely laser cannon. The pulsing sounds rise in pitch as you destroy the creatures one by one. Just when you think you've wiped them all out, another wave begins, this time even harder than the last one...
